Employment Solutions

Employment Solutions is an employment program delivered by the Welland Heritage Council. We have an office in Welland. The program is open to unemployed persons in Ontario who are interested in finding employment and accessing the labour market.

Employment Solutions offers a variety of programs and services to meet the needs of our clients. We offer a comprehensive pre-employment workshop called Building Employment Standards Today (BEST). This two-week workshop series covers all aspects of a successful job search.

Our staff are very knowledgeable regarding academic credential assessments and the accreditation process for regulated professions. Clients have access to one-on-one counselling to help them begin the process of getting recognition for their skills.

Mentorship offers our clients an opportunity to enhance their language capabilities and to gain valuable information about their occupation and/or chosen field of employment. Clients are paired with a person who is experienced in their profession. Clients are exposed to new ideas, hiring practices, terminology specific to their profession and common workplace practices. It is a great opportunity for them to network within their profession.
We also offer a variety of networking opportunities like our Network Cafés as well as Professional Group meetings for Doctors and Engineers.

Each year we host the Annual International Women’s Day. A candidate is nominated by her peers, chosen for acting as a role model through her success in setting and achieving her goals and overcoming all barriers.

We are also very pleased with our partnerships with the Welland/Pelham Chamber of Commerce and the St. Catharines Chamber of Commerce in delivering a series of diversity workshops to the employer community. Subsequently, we were nominated for “business of the month” and for the OSCARS by the Welland/Pelham Chamber of Commerce.

We have also extended our office hours to serve our clients better and have developed a new workshop series with a variety of new topics.
